AS9100

Current Version

2016 (Revision D)

This standard is supported by AS9101 as well as AS9104/2A.  AS9104/2A was just published in 01/2022.  Platinum is preparing our management systems to address the new requirements of AS9104 including the use of a new version of OASIS.

Another Standard clients should be aware of is AS9018 (published 10/2021).  This is a standard used when Customers identify major quality management system nonconformities.

Title
Quality Management Systems –
Requirements for Aviation, Space, and Defense Organizations

Purpose
To improve quality, cost, and delivery performance through the reduction or elimination of organization-unique requirements, effective implementation of the quality management system, and wider application of good practice.

Updates

AS9104 was the most recent standard released. A new version of OASIS is anticipated.  Platinum is preparing for transition.  As part of this process, we will be collecting data with our clients to conform to the new method of determining audit days based upon risk.  We will utilize an OCAP tool for this purpose.  We anticipate that AS9100 will be revised in the near future.

It is anticipated that a new revision of AS9100 will be issued in late 2024-late 2025 timeframe, depending upon the ISO decision to launch a revision of ISO 9001.  It will be called IA9100.

Certification Process

Platinum has prepared the The Certification Process article to give you an idea of what to expect before, during and after a certification assessment (including: granting, refusing, maintaining, renewing, suspending, restoring or withdrawing certification or expanding or reducing the scope of certification; the use of the Platinum's name and certification symbols; and processes for handling requests for information, complaints and appeals. Additional details can be found in documents provided to our clients under the CLIENTS tab located at the top of this website.
Certification Process

Transferring Certifications

Platinum has a robust process to make sure that you can transfer your accredited certification using an easy, stress-free approach!  Recognition of other Certification Body's certificates is one of the wonderful aspects of accredited certification. Prior to transfer – we will need the following documents from you:
  • A copy of your accredited certificate
  • Copies of your previous reports (back to your initial or last re-certification assessment)
  • Copies of acceptance of corrective actions
Once you send us these documents we will perform a pre-transfer review to confirm our understanding of your certification history and to ensure that your certificate's eligibility for transfer.  Then, with your knowledge, we will confirm validity and eligibility with your issuing Certification Body.

For many certificates the transfer can occur without a pre-transfer visit.  Aviation, Space and Defense Certificates require a pre-transfer assessment.

You do not have to wait until your next audit to transfer.

Changing certification bodies is a big decision. That’s why we keep you in the loop and completely in control. We do not reach out to your issuing  Certification Body until you are absolutely certain that you want to transfer … and then we communicate with them for you!

Easy. Transparent. Stress-free. It's that simple.
